This is a wonderful top lit tenement close I found in Partick, Glasgow. I was immediately struck by the dramatic light and the worn stone treads of the the stairway. I imagined the stories which had been played out in the place and I decided to try to represent as positive a narrative as I could.
The woman has received the letter and ran down with it to greet him as he arrived (she has no shoes on)…
